Okay, since my ideas for the second remake of Red and Green went so well, I decided I could make a post about my wishes regarding what could I be expecting of eventual Ruby and Sapphire remakes, or any such game currently in the planning. But first, I’m going to give you a bit of an intro, just so you can understand my experiences and opinions about the two games.
Third generation was the first generation of my favorite game series that came out when I was relatively old enough to be able to critique it and apply some kind of criteria to it. Of course, as it didn’t keep a lot of the features that we were getting used to, and a lot of the older Pokemon were unobtainable, they didn’t fare that well on the familiarity and authenticity part. Not only were they set far away from Kanto and Johto, but they felt so distant, almost apart from other Pokemon games. And while I DID enjoy them and still cherish the stories from my first play through Ruby, such as remembering every single of my team members and so forth, I feel that they could improve on a lot of decisive factors. The best way to describe these games is comparing them to rough, unpolished gems, rough on the edges but with good qualities nonetheless.
That was all more then ten years ago and now, all this time later, I feel that with X and Y still in the minds and hearts of the fandom, the bar is set pretty high for any upcoming Pokemon games, let alone remakes of anything. But, with the brand-new 3D engine and models for Pokemon, revised graphics and battle system, Fairy typing and everything else that we have in the game, Ruby and Sapphire remakes can use that to their fullest advantage to make them superior to their originals.
So, without further ado, here’s my list of things that need to happen, that I want to happen. Firstly, just as HGSS carried over some details from Crystal, we should see everything that we got later on, in Emerald, so in effect, ties of the both villainous teams to the story, Battle Frontier, longer post-game, new areas and visuals as charming as those in X and Y. Secondly, the soundtrack that was as charming and as different as it was, redone in great quality and precision. Thirdly, just seeing Hoenn during nighttime is good enough, but make it a bit better then in X and Y. And lastly, STEVEN STONE! He needs to be the champion, not that pompous douche Wallace.
So, a lot of expectations from the following games! Tell me what you think and how do you feel about the remakes of these games! Sorry for the long post. Yeah. :)
